NEWS FROM BALANCE AUTISM

Balance Autism celebrated Direct Support Professionals Week in September. To recognize the dedication of our Direct Support Professionals and express our appreciation for their vital contribution to Balance Autism and our communities, each Direct Support Professional received a gift bag containing a Balance Autism t-shirt, lanyard, post it notes, a pen and candy.

In addition to the gift bag, many locations had celebrations of their own. Some of these celebrations included drawings for prizes, grill outs, brunch, dress up days, massages and a game night.

We appreciate the dedication of our Direct Support Professionals. They truly make a difference in the lives of the people we serve!

Balance Autism is transitioning our Adult Community Services individuals into Balance Autism purchased four bedroom homes throughout the Des Moines metro. Currently, six homes have been purchased, three in Pleasant Hill, and three in Altoona. This transition helps us maintain our meaningful, individualized learning with the change in funding for community living services. The new homes provide greater access to community services, a more comfortable living environment, a richer staffing ratio, and more consistent staffing patterns.

Persons served have been enjoying their new homes while getting to know their staff and roommates!

Thank you to our friends at Prairie Meadows for donating a personalized Coca Cola machine to Balance Autism. Along with dispensing cans of pop, it has a CD player/radio in it. The machine is a fun addition to our children’s waiting room in our Clive clinic. Thank you Prairie Meadows for your continued support!
