In Adult Community Services, we've introduced a creative and empowering initiative for our persons served—Adventure Goals. These personalized goals are designed to inspire residents to add purpose, excitement, and discovery to their daily lives. Whether it’s taking a road trip, visiting a local landmark, or a big dream brought to life, each adventure goal empowers individuals to step outside their comfort zone and into new experiences. From building the confidence to make a plan, to mastering the skills needed to carry it through, residents are supported every step of the way.
Recently, we had the privilege of supporting one of the remarkable women we serve as she planned—and successfully completed—her very first road trip without her family.
While there were some initial nerves around traveling without her family, she moved forward with courage and determination. With encouragement from our team, she began mapping out a weekend adventure to Branson, Missouri!
She worked hard to plan her adventure. She chose the destinations, picked the activities, and even helped with booking the trip. Her thoughtful planning paid off with a weekend full of joy, discovery, and personal growth.
On Friday, she kicked off her adventure with a visit to a toy museum, rode the iconic Branson Ferris wheel, posed for old-time photos, and explored the aquarium.
Saturday brought new thrills as she visited the National Tiger Sanctuary, enjoyed some shopping, and ended the day at the Dolly Parton Stampede Dinner Show.
By Sunday, she was still going strong—visiting the Celebrity Car Museum, relaxing at a cat café, wandering through the Butterfly Palace, and riding the thrilling mountain coaster.
Her journey wasn’t just about the places she saw—it was about the independence she claimed, the confidence she built, and the memories she created. The weekend was a huge success, and she returned home feeling proud and empowered.
We are honored to walk beside her and all the individuals we serve, helping them shape lives filled with purpose, choice, and adventure. This is what living fully looks like—and she showed us all what’s possible when support meets courage.
