Labor Day was first established to honor the contributions of working people who, through persistence and solidarity, shaped better workplaces and stronger communities. It is a day rooted in the belief that work should not only provide for daily needs but also build dignity, opportunity, and hope for the future.
At Balance Autism, this resonates deeply with our mission: to develop and implement innovative solutions to engage people with autism. Just as the labor movement sought to create meaningful opportunities for all workers, we work to create meaningful opportunities for the individuals we serve—opportunities to learn, to work, to grow, and to thrive.
This Labor Day, we honor the legacy of those who fought for the dignity of work, while celebrating our staff, families, and community partners who carry forward that spirit each day. Together, we are creating a future where every individual with autism is empowered to contribute their talents to a more inclusive world. Happy Labor Day!

Balanced Beginnings FIELD DAY!
Balanced Beginnings in Clive wrapped up summer with a special outdoor adventure—Field Day!
The day was filled with races, team games, and countless learning opportunities. From practicing flexibility and adapting to changes in routine, to building functional skills like waiting for a turn, walking together, and trying new activities—our preschoolers experienced it all!
Both morning and afternoon classes ventured to the open field next to our building, where they enjoyed classic favorites like sack races, parachute games, and the always-exciting “ball”-on-a-spoon race. The fresh air, laughter, and friendly competition made the day a huge hit with our little learners!
“Several moments from Field Day really stood out to me. One was watching the preschoolers cheer each other on during the bean bag toss—showing such kindness, patience, and encouragement. Another was seeing the pride and pure joy on their faces as they received their medals at the end of the day.”

Celebrating Pride with Our Community
Balance Autism had an incredible time celebrating Pride alongside our community! This year, our team joined the festivities as event vendors at Cedar Valley Pridefest, sharing resources, answering questions, and connecting with so many amazing individuals and families.
We’re proud to stand in support of autistic individuals and their families of all identities and backgrounds. Events like this remind us how important it is to foster spaces where everyone feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, picked up resources, shared their stories, and helped us spread awareness about the services we offer. Your energy and kindness made this event truly special!
We can’t wait to keep building connections and celebrating diversity, inclusion, and belonging—not just during Pride, but all year long.
